CHRIS EVERESTChris Everest is a prize-winning guitarist and a graduate of New Zealand School of Music (First-class honours), under the tutelage of Dr. Jane Curry and Owen Moriarty. Performing regularly throughout New Zealand, he has toured with several ensembles and as a soloist, most recently touring ‘Sounds of Home’ exploring works for classical guitar by NZ composers.
In preparation for postgraduate auditions, Chris participated in several masterclasses, with such artists as David Russell, Thibaut Garcia and Roman Viazovsky, at the 2023 Iserlohn and Nürtingen International Guitar Festivals in Germany and the Camino de los Artes workshop in Spain with René Izquierdo. |
MICHAEL STOOPHamish is currently in his graduate year of an honours degree and plans to pursue a Masters of Music in classical guitar in North America or Europe. In mid 2023 he toured Europe and the United Kingdom receiving tuition at the Royal College of Music and Royal Academy of Music in London, and the Haute Ecole de Musique in Sion.
Hamish has won a number of prizes including the SOUNZ prize for the best performance of a New Zealand composition at the New Zealand International Biennial Classical Guitar competition (2022). As well as an award-winning guitarist, Hamish plays percussion for the Royal New Zealand Air Force Band and Wellington Brass Band. Hamish has represented New Zealand as a percussionist in the National Youth Orchestra (2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022) and National Youth Brass Band where he was principal percussionist from 2019 until 2022. |
